As the Castle was one of our first, it remains near and dear to my heart. The task was to build a castle here in Calgary based on the home of one of the great kings of Scotland. We worked with the owner for three years to get every detail right. The triumph here was authenticity. We made use of as much reclaimed material as possible to successfully achieve the grandeur of an ancient baronial castle. Not only did we import the stone from Britain, but also the stonemasons. 300 year old reclaimed wood, as well as the master carpenters to finish it, were sourced in Nova Scotia for the beams, floor and woodwork. To get the windows right, we custom made a blade to mill the frames to match the style from the correct era in Scotland. If you’ve ever visited any of the great castles of Scotland, you’d feel right at home here.
