Has the idea of building a custom house piqued your interest? While Riverview Custom Homes would be more than happy to provide you assistance with lot acquisition, it is completely natural for you to want to explore by yourself. Before doing so, however, there are few things that you should keep in mind.

  • Size. Don’t only consider the size of the house you want to build in this case. The size of the lot will affect many things, including any garden that you might want to have or any pool that you might want to build.
  • Location. If you want or currently have children, location should be one of your first priorities. Do you want your house to be close to schools? How about close to shop and restaurants? Consider how busy the street is and how safe it looks. How much traffic and noise can you expect?
  • Type. Realistically, how much work will you be able to put on your newly acquired lot? Consider the views, the streams, the trees and the hills. Site preparation might prove to be slightly more expensive than you anticipated with those factors.
  • Price. Ensure that the price of the lot does not go over your budget. Shop around but don’t settle for the first cheap one that you come across. Remember, you are making a decision that could potentially influence your life and the lives of your children for a lifetime.
